This course is designed for protective coating applicators and thermal sprayers who want to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work in accordance with ISO 14918, the standard for qualification testing of thermal sprayers.

It is ideal for those looking to build competence in flame and arc spraying, equipment set-up, surface preparation and application techniques, while preparing for the practical and theoretical assessment required to demonstrate their ability to apply thermal sprayed coatings in accordance with the standard.

Lloyd’s Register Accreditation & TSSEA Approval

Train the painter is accredited by Lloyd’s Register, providing independent recognition of the wider programme and reinforcing its value as a professional training route for protective coating applicators.

The Thermal Metal Spraying Application Course has been developed in conjunction with the Thermal Spraying and Surface Engineering Association (TSSEA), with successful candidates receiving a Train the painter ID card approved by TSSEA. The training also prepares applicators for ISO 14918 thermal sprayer qualification testing.

Surface Preparation

Understand the preparation requirements for steel surfaces before applying thermally sprayed coatings for effective corrosion protection.

Inspection & Standards

Modules included:
